This is a letter mummy has written to Miss Ng today :-
Sweet stuff is likely a stimulant for Aston's activeness.
We are quite eager to slowly slowly stop and eventually no sweets for him. He is always eating sweets now. Hardly any chocolates unless there are children parties he attended.
Based on our previous discussions with you, we thot over NO NO sweets for Aston.
This is his schedule of eating sweets...
Every Sat phonics class - given by Teacher Graham. abt one sweet
Every Sun grandma place - he buy from mama shop. abt two sweets
Evey Month hair cut - at least four sweets.
Total he eats around 20 sweets per mth.
Then later we analyse in our mind, .somehow we decided that we cannot impose or NO need to enforce NO NO sweets rule on him...because 20 sweets one month is not quite alot for him...
If we check, everyday he is eating things & there is bound to be sweet contents. He is also drinking 500ml of chysanthemum tea (one can) on every sat morning breakfast)
So we are actually dealing directly on the SWEETS.
I will do my part on the mama shop and the haircut on NO NO sweets plan , I shld say realistically we can acheive 50% success on this...
My problem is here : -
How do I request Teacher Graham to stop giving him sweets ? I find it so difficult to make this request becos it'll be very difficult for him and unfair he has to specially treat my son and rest of students suffered ?

Appreciation

This is a card for Ms Fion.
Mummy is very pleased to prepare this beautiful card. Mummy is not good in arts and to produce this nice card in this neat way make me so PROUD !
Both Mummy and daddy is very appreciative to Ms Fion, your Nursery & K1 English teacher. She is a young teacher, she look very positive and work very hard with us to improve your behaviours in school.
Ms Fion is promoted to Principal starting this week and we are very happy for her. We know she mark the quality and she will do a good job. But frankly speaking, Mummy is quite sad she is not your English teacher anymore.

EQ
Daddy told me there is need to brush up your EQ skills. Why ? These are the reasons :-
- Do not understand why cannot play roughly.
- Insist on things that you want when told repeatedly or explained and lateron resulted in whinings and cryings. Eg, buying toys everytime we go out to shopping centre, nearby market or neighbourhood shops or pasar malam.
- Insist people to play when they are already tired and chose to play other toys or other activities.
- Do not listen at the instant instruction or shout from daddy and mummy.

Fixing Mummy's broken heart
A series of things happen at home and in school these few days.
1. Over the last weekend, you had blocked nose, took some medicine and look well.
2. On Sunday, you went to fish farm, fed the fishes and ate ice-cream. Daddy said this is your routine thing you will have to complete before you will leave the fish farm. I really think daddy has SPOILT you. Then we went to IKEA shop for things and you played at the children's corner like you have never played before, running around without looking, jumping around and not scared you will knock onto the furniture. This is what we and others say you are so HIGH.
3. Return back to 外婆 place, you bath after some persuasion and showing you the cane. At least you finish the dinner and do some English worksheets before we left for home.
4. On Monday morning, you whine that you are not feeling well and refuse to go school. No choice, we let you stay at home to rest. Back in my mind, I really think you are perfectly alright and I am sure your school will let you attend school as you are not really that unwell. Due to this, mummy had to abandon the chance of family hosting for flu drill organised by your school for Tue and Wed. I was DISAPPOINTED !
5. Mummy took leave stay at home for Tue & Wed. You did not take breakfast and drink milk until 11pm. Shorly you took lunch, played a while with your toys, do some sticker pastings and practise spelling words. You also accompanied mummy see doc after dinner. In the clinic, you played the slide in some dangerous ways and daddy have to watch over you at the play area. On our way home, we were talking about buying the rattan cane and you reminded us where to buy in Tampines. Is this a challenge from you ? Come to think of it, maybe. We have decided to let you participate in the buying of the rattan cane. Will this actually made you aware of cane and take note to behave ? We are unsure and may need some experts like child educator to advise us.
6. Flu drill by your school was a great success as all parents support and the drill was completed smoothly. Thus, you can go back to school today. After some consideration, I sent you to school. While back at home, I can do some work, rest and watch my HK serial show.
7. Frankly speaking, I do not like school to call me. They will call to update parents if something serious happen or telling over the phone for detailed happening or important announcements. Most of the time so far is delivering "bad" news, heart throbing news and enough to scare me news to me. Remember how you cut your tongue two years back & you were hospitalised in KK hospital for two days for GA surgery ? Indeed today something happen to you. You overactively run, you cannot control and go over the limit in playing. During nap time, you did not sleep immediately, you did all those michievous acts, run and push your classmate and accidentally fell and bite your lower lips. There is bleeding, of course. It should be painful or not painful enough because the next thing you did was climb up the computer table and jump. You are lucky you did not knock the head else I think you will have bad fall and in hospital now. What sadden me is you are also not cooperative during literacy class as you make noise when others are reading.
I was very heart broken to hear that you misbehave and was injured. Mummy cried. I am very sure you have all the love and concern from family, you have a healthy family and you can communicate well with us. But the misbehaviors you displayed are like a child from a broken family and he is so emotionally and physiologically affected.
WHAT IS WRONG ? Nothing major happen recently to make you misbehave. It also become very obvious that mummy's sixth sense and observation is right that you misbehave almost everyday in school. Some says you are SMART boy. You are active so you learn things fast so you are somewhat Smart. Then some says these Smart children will do well in studies and high IQ and high EQ. Your IQ is above average and EQ is too early your age to know. But you get along pretty well especially with bigger children. You sacrifice them to the misbehaviors and 不听话 and 不知道什麽該做什麽不該做. We cannot naively compensate them with your good academic skills. We cannot tolerate & ignore your misbehaviors but we simply do not know what to do now. We advise school not to punish you as we fear overpunishments will make you a rebellious person as you grow older. We received too many negative comments on you. The good part is your academic is good, you learn things fast and willing to learn. The challenging task for us to think of ways build up good character skills in you. We really hope you can listen to us and understand what we teach you. Else no choice may need to bring you see specialist doctor to treat you.
You had a new haircut at Aunty Judy's salon after I fetch you from school. It is a very short haircut, you look so handsome and so fresh and hope you can start afresh tomorrow.

听妈妈的话
You are by nature an active and cheerful boy. As being active, you are curious to know things, like to explore and very bold to try out new things. You love to run around and can hardly sit still to concentrate and stay focus on learning things. Your active, mischievous behaviors sometime rage mummy and I once often beat you with hands or cane you. These negative punishments do not work on you anymore. Therefore it challenge mummy to attend to you needs, your whines, your shoutings in more positive ways. Then I remember I bought this book on "Parenting preschoolers" and triggered me to read. I read with the aim to know how preschoolers behave and how we parents can cope with them positively. With this book, it helps identify areas parents can actively participate in the kids' growth and progress. It also have time-proven ideas and activities helping parents to raise an enriched and empowered wholesome child.
So once mummy "mastered" the skills, I hope you will 听妈妈的话, 好嗎?
Sit back and enjoy this song by Jay Chou (周杰伦)

Thrilling FIVES
Aston will turn 5 years old in two months' time. We usually do not celebrate too elaborately for his birthdays. The only major one is when he turned one year old and the next three years are simple celebration with family members with a cake at home. You are already very happy with us surrounding you to sing the birthday song, blow candles, make birthday wish & cut the cake. Thus, we may do the same this year , so there is nothing really special. This year, we will bring you out to watch a show on "The Emperor's New clothes" on your birthday day itself. This is the second children show you watched and the recent one is "The Little Red Hen" which you enjoyed very much. I like to bring you to these shows because it provide you a different way the tales stories are being told as compared to you reading from the story books. Little Red Hen is about be helpful and Emperor's New Clothes is about honesty. You need to know these good characters in life to make you a better person and liked/received by people. You did not attend alot of enrichments because you may not have the time to attend most of them so we chose some important ones for you to promote character building, to sustain learning, to maintain right attitude in learning and to explore creativity in the enrichments you are learning now. You learn piano because you need to be focus and concentrate in learning the music notes and play the piano. You go swimming on every sat because you need some excercise to promote your health well being and improve/sustain your lifestyle. You learn phonic because you need know the way to read words in the correct way and handle independent reading when you reach primary school. You learn English speech & drama because you need to articulate well & co-ordinate movements. The next is to learn Chess because this is what we hope you can get strong in sense of responsibility , social interaction and thinking process. We know you like to learn drawing & we are still considering. We hope you will be thrilled with these activities you are engaging so far now.

So close ...nearly an accident
So, can we truly blog & share anything we like to? That's really what I hope. That's why I choose to capture my joyous and memorable moments in this blog. I wish that after years from now, when Aston read back these posts, he and we could laugh the sillyness he and we have had; or to refresh the memories of sweetness he and we once tasted.
Just wanna put this "bitter memory" down. There are many naughty things he has done but I just hope to post just this one and serve a permanent reminder to him ... Aston and his 4yo old nephew had an accident this afternoon, nearly a major one that we may need to rush down to hospital. This is a very naughty thing done by Aston. He tried to piggy back his nephew and succeeded in it and walked round the living room. I was raged and repeated twice for him to stop but he continued the piggy back. He thinks it is so fun and ignore my words and disobey my instructions. At this time, they were near a fan and while they were going round the fan, the fan toppled and fell onto them and both fell down onto the floor. The fan cover has fallen apart and we freaked out. Aston was lying on top on his nephew. Luckily both did not get cut, break the limps or knock the head. I drew a cane and stroked him few times and he cried hysterically ! This punishment is really necessary because I cannot convince myself to turn anger to a caring tone (所謂的愛的関懷). He deserve this painful punishment.....

Progress of Phonics
Aston has learned phonics for coming to 6mths and we are glad to see that you learn to read out the word through phonics sounds. You learned phonics sounds on vowels and consonants and you learn blend sounds. You are able to segment the sounds easily and read out the words. Last night, you read this word "fantastic" using that way & we think it's really fantastic way you learn phonics and displaying your reading skills. Hope you will sustain and improved as you goes along. We should start spelling on you very soon and hope you will use the phonetic skills to remember the word and spell them out.

Secret Code
What does 0-1-2-3 means ?
I merely use this code on Aston many weeks ago.
I ask "Aston, how are you today, are you 0,1,2 or 3 ?
He replied me "Mummy, I am 3 today".
My reply " Oh oh, why 3 ? Why happen to you that you are so naughty ?
Aston decode them in this way. We find it very reasonable decoding by him as he is able to link them well to his behaviors.
0= did not misbehave, very obedient
1= a bit naughty and very obedient
2= naughty and a bit obedient
3=very naughty
